# About Starbase Innovations

A Calicut company, founded in 2021, building software for waste collection and recycling.

## Our story

Starbase Innovations started in Calicut in 2021 and was incubated at AIC-IIITK and CUSAT TBI. We began with an everyday question in Kerala’s waste logistics: which vehicle went where, and what did it carry?

The answer became Swastha, which waste-management companies and fleets in Kerala and in Pune use to plan trips, track vehicles and keep proof of each stop.

Next, we want to connect households and scrap dealers to the same record, so the people who do the work are visible and paid fairly. That work is on our roadmap.

## We don’t replace the people who move waste. We give them a record.

- **Work with the people already doing the job** — Haritha Karma Sena units, kabadiwalas and existing aggregators keep their customers and their margins. We bring tools, not competition.
- **Record every movement we handle** — Today Swastha logs each trip with the vehicle, the stops, photos and the weight delivered. Next, we want the same record for hand-offs between households, dealers, aggregators and recyclers.
- **Manage by exception** — We design for rules to make routine choices, such as which vehicle takes a job, and for people to step in only when the rules can’t. That way the network can grow faster than our team.

## Running since 2021

- **Designated agency, Government of Kerala** — Appointed under a Suchitwa Mission order to coordinate GPS-fitted waste vehicles across the state.
- **All 14 districts of Kerala** — Collection agencies across the state run their trips on Swastha.
- **Pune, Maharashtra** — Swastha is in use in Pune.
